Weight Loss Myths - Why Cutting Calories Doesn't Work For Weight Loss

Most people believe that calories are the "enemy" and the fastest way to lose weight is to consume much fewer calories each day.

It seems to make sense: if you are eating 2,500 calories per day and and then cut back to 1,500 calories - then it will have to result in weight loss, right?

You couldn't be more wrong!

Did you know that most of the weight lost during a "low calorie diet" is just water weight? Even more important than that, if you're not consuming enough calories your body will begin burning fewer calories each day.

For example, if you normally eat about 3,000 calories per day.... then suddenly cut way back on calories -- so that you're now eating only 1,000 calories per day.

Can you guess what happens then? Even though you're eating 2,000 fewer calories each day your body will begin burning 2,000 fewer calories per day (it's exactly the reason you're feeling so tired all the time, you body is desperately trying to conserve energy). So in reality your weight will remain the same while your energy level will drop dramatically. When this happens the numbers on your scale will stop changing regardless of how little you ate that day, and this is referred to as a weight loss "plateau."

This is why in most cases weight lose brought on by starvation diet will stop after just a short period of time. You hit a "plateau" where the scale just refuses to go down any further, no matter how little you are eating or how miserable and drained of energy you feel.

Now you know why you've always failed when trying to dramatically cut calories in the past. It's just not possible to lose weight by starving yourself. Not to mention, that as any reasonable person can understand, it's very unhealthy.

The truth is that consistent and permanent weight loss can never be achieved by cutting calories and starving.Serious and healthy weight loss can only be achieved by providing your body with the right types of calories at the proper periods each day.

Your body actually works exactly like a big "engine" -- and the truth is that it needs all 3 types of calories (protein, carbs, and fat) to some degree.
